Dave was frantic. His 4 1/2 year old black lab did great hunting pheasants. As they were walking out of the field, Dr. Watson collapsed and began to seizure. In the office, he was obtunded (very depressed) and limp. His blood sugar was 42 (normal is 100). He was experiencing hunting dog hypoglycemia; a type of glycogen storage disease. With a spoonful of sugar, Dr. Watson recovered. Now, when Dave goes hunting, he carries a package of lifesavers.
